ALEXIUS CARTER
Alexius Carter is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with over 14 years of experience helping adults navigate life’s challenges. She earned Her Master’s degree from the University of Central Florida and is currently licensed to practice in Florida, Maine, Virginia, Arizona, and Colorado. While she resides in Florida, she works with clients across these states through Multiple Telehealth Platforms.

YOUR FIRST SESSION
In your first session, you can expect a welcoming, supportive space where you can begin to share what’s bringing yourself to therapy. You & Alexius will talk about your current challenges, personal goals, and any past experiences that you feel are important to the healing process. Alexius will also ask some questions to better understand your history and overall well-being, which helps her tailor the work to your unique needs.
This session is also a chance for you to get a feel for Alexius's style, and can ask any questions you may have about the therapy process. Most importantly, it’s the beginning of building a trusting, a collaborative relationship where you feel safe, heard, and empowered, to take the next steps on your journey of mental healing.

TREATMENT METHODS
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL (CBT)
I utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help clients develop effective coping strategies and challenge intrusive thoughts that may be contributing to their anxiety. I also assign targeted homework to reinforce therapeutic techniques and encourage clients to apply these skills in their daily lives outside of sessions.
DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR (DBT)
I use Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) to support clients in building distress tolerance, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness, and mindfulness skills. I assign DBT-based homework to encourage clients to practice these techniques between sessions, promoting greater self-awareness and long-term skill integration.
MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING
I utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) to enhance clients’ intrinsic motivation for change by fostering a collaborative and non-judgmental environment. Through guided conversations, clients are encouraged to explore their ambivalence, recognize their personal strengths, and identify their own reasons for growth and change.
